    Cool

Does anyone know of a directory or "master data sheet" with info on the street prices of Super8mm cam's. It seems like eBAY, for example, is either an incredible deal, or terrible rip-off. I'm a young newbie so I haven't had the opportunity to grow up with this stuff.

For instance, I tryed to find the price on an a Rollei SL82 for days with no luck. Any ideas? My guess is $200. But that is based on the price of a similar caliber Nizo....Thanks!

most used camera shops have a 'blue book' which lists wholesale and retail prices for used cameras. this book is updated annually, i believe. from my experience, there are many factors that contribute to the value of a camera which this book does not take into account. so it's more or less just a reference. check with a used camera store and ask for the blue book value. they'll want to qoute you what they'd pay you for it; tell them you're not interested in selling it, just interested in the listed retail value.

On eBay, it's always good advice to do a search among the completed auctions for similar cameras. That way, you can get a fair sense of the going rate averaged over a longer period of time. Sometimes, the bidders get too zealous, so it's always good to know when to bail out.

I used to think things I saw on eBay were once-in-a-lifetime finds, and I paid too much for things I didn't think I would see again. But event the most sought-after Super 8 cameras show up again and again.

Its been my experience that this forum is best source for honest information and pricing with Super 8. Ebay is a gamble check that feedback and ask the seller about refunds before you bid. I think ebay is considerably cheaper than retail shops unless its goodwill or something but you have to be lucky to score one there.
